James Moran hails from California Central Valley where he was surrounded by a wide range of music from Rockabilly, Country Swing and Tejano to Blues, Dixieland, Big Band, Jazz and Soul.

Influenced by Wes Montgomery, B.B. King, Eric Gale, Kenny Burrell, John Lee Hooker and Albert King, James is a funky and expressive guitarist who captivates with his lyrical leads and rhythmic drive. As a dedicated student of the jazz and blues idioms, James has had the opportunity to play and jam with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, J. C. Burris, Z.Z. Hill, John Lee Hooker, and Bobby Blue Bland.

A seasoned performer and session player in the New York, Detroit, LA and San Francisco music scenes, James is breaking out from his sideman role and is a featured instrumentalist in the ShufTones.
